I wa just over at http://www.prometheus-movie.com/ and saw the 6 new stills posted.
Maybe I’m crazy, but at quick glance, the 3rd photo of the giant head statue looked a LOT like Michael Fassbender to me. Could there be a David Connection we’re totally unaware of up to now?
Im going to look at doing a good side by side comparison if someone hasn’t already done so.
Saw the Trailer in 3D
So I haven’t posted in forever. Been super busy. Finally made it to a movie for the first time in forever. I saw The Avengers in 3D tonight. Much better than I expected.
Before the movie, they showed the trailer for Prometheus, and it was shown in 3D. I’ve seen the trailer 100 times, but that was the first in 3D. It looks awesome!
You can rally tell this movie was shot in 3D rather than being post-converted. I know a lot of people hate 3D, and are not pleased that Prometheus will be 3D. I think much of this comes from seeing movies that were post-converted into fake 3D. Those definitely don’t look as good, and can feel gimmicky. The few movies I’ve seen that have actually been shot in 3D look pretty good. Prometheus look VERY good.
Even more pumped now!
Just watched Alien Ressurection for the first time in a long time. Hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the las Alien film.
Loved the foot massage scene. Hillard has such an amazing ass! I looked up the actress, Kim Flowers, and according to IMDB, she hasn’t appeared in anything since 1998. What happened to her and that ass?
Ridley Scott wants Promethus to be rated R. Check out his comments here
Game of Thrones Season 2 Starts this Sunday
Game of Thrones Season 2 Starts this Sunday, April 1, 2012 on HBO.
Outside of Prometheus, this is one of the entertainment events I have most been looking forward to this year.
I never read the books, and didn’t watch it while it was first airing, but I discovered Game of Thrones last year, and was both entertained and impressed. Season 1 ultimately felt like an excellent first chapter in a story I really wanted to leaner more about, an I’ve been eagerly waiting for season 2 to begin.
To those who have not yet seen it, I recommend season 1 highly. To those who have, I’m sure you are looking forward to Sunday night as well.
It’s not Prometheus, but it will more than do for now.
To think, if Ridley Scott had not done Gladiator, there may not be a Game of Thrones. The box office and awards success of Gladitor in 2000 paved the way for “swords and sandals” to be cool again. Thank you Ridley.
The TV Spots
I was out this past weekend, and one of the NCAA games was on TV while I was eating dinner. I wasn’t really paying much attention, but then one of the new TV spots for Prometheus came on, and my attention was instantly grabbed.
I was with a large group of friends, talking, and I instantly went silent. I was kind of shocked to see TV ads so far before the release. I wanted to see if anything new was revealed.
I didn’t get the best glimpse at dinner, but have since had a chance to view both TV ads online. Nice to see a little new footage. It’s so weird after only having the teaser trailer for so long to have stuff hitting us constantly all of a sudden.
I think the marketing strategy here was smart. Get the word out early. Reach tons of potential viewers during March Madness.
It was slightly unfortunate that things had to be truncated so much, but understandable as well. The ads fly by, and I could be crazy, but it feels like certain scenes are slightly sped up. The VoiceOver delivering the tag line also feels rushed. The ads just aren’t as elegant as what we’ve been given so far.
Promethus has been a lot of slow build for so many of us, it feels almost strange to see it advertised like any other mere movie.
Not really sure where I was going here: bottom line, it’s great to se word getting out there early. I can only hope that the TV spots get people curious enough to check out the real trailer online where they will be blown away. Although the TV spots are brief, I think they will work in making new converts.
Closing in on two months to opening!
Cave Painting and Star Maps, from the UK Trailer
Star Maps show that they were found as follows:
Egyptian - 2470 BCE
Mayan - 620 CE
Sumerian - 8590 BCE
Isle of Skye - 35020 BCE
Babylonian - 1540 BCE
Hittite - 1760 BCE
Hawaiian - 680 CE
Interesting to note that they use the non-religious BCE and CE dates rather than BC and AD. Ridley and others have made clear religion will be a big theme of the movie. Have humans largely moved past religion by the time of the Prometheus mission?
